PROJECT OBJECTIVES

The business objective of the Survival Medical University and Teaching Hospital, Ghana is to design, build, operate and manage the first privately owned medical university and teaching hospital in Ghana. The Company will also design, build, operate and manage a secondary school to provide feeder students into the medical university

Furthermore, the medical university’s operations will be based on a 1,000 bed hospital with full facilities and sufficient competent staff to provide comprehensive training to an intake of 2,000 fee-paying students per year to study a variety of medical disciplines. The hospital will also operate as a normal hospital business accepting patients who will pay for medical, surgical and associated ancillary services necessary for treatment and return to good health. In that respect, the hospital will be expected to accept an average of 900 outpatients per day requiring medical consultations with a General Practitioner.

Moreover, the hospital is expected to operate at 80% capacity. Importantly, it will be the first ever private medical school in Ghana and consequently, it will have a significant role in the provision of quality health care to Ghanaians. The hospital therefore will be a valuable adjunct to the four existing Government medical schools.

Project Importance to the Country and Africa

This project to create a privately owned and operated Medical University and Teaching Hospital is a private sector response to the increasing rate of growth of the Ghanaian population. Moreover, the project is also a response to community expectations for access to modern medical treatments. This community expectation is putting tremendous pressure on the four Government medical schools. In turn, this has created an unfortunate situation where many Ghanaians are choosing to travel abroad for both medical treatment and medical education.

The Medical University and Teaching Hospital will tap directly into this very evident market by providing these essential services locally at a cost commensurate with community standards and expectations

Once established, the Medical University and Teaching Hospital will become the dominant Health Training Institution in Ghana and will have an influence in the medical training field across the entire West African region. In that respect, the Medical University and Teaching Hospital is expected to enrol students from Ghana and other African countries

Construction of the Medical University and Teaching Hospital is expected to begin in January 2024 and completed in December 2026 and commercial operation of hospital for profit generation begins in April 2026.

First Draw down of initial capital to begin construction is anticipated to be ending of July 2024 and funding is needed every 3 Months in Tranches until project is completed.

Source of Revenue for Institution

Hospital revenue will be generated from a number of sources, including tuition and hostel fees paid by the students, daily medical consultations with outpatients, and the provision of surgical procedures of various types and complexity, the hospitalization of patients requiring supervised treatment, pharmacy services for medical drug supply, and through research and scientific development services.

Based predominantly on the national population growth, the Medical University and Teaching Hospital has the potential to significantly improve its financial profitability and cash flows in the next ten years, partly through organic growth and partly through proactive management. The hospital will consistently achieve about 40% rate of return on investment by the end of the first year of commercial operations.
